Cher is ready to make a bold move: if Donald Trump secures a second term in 2024, she’s planning to leave the U.S. behind.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the pop icon made a striking declaration. “I almost got an ulcer the last time,” Cher admitted. “If he gets elected again, who knows what might happen? This time, I’m definitely planning to leave the country.”
At the tail end of Trump’s presidency he rolled back nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people.
The “Believe” singer was candid about the fight for trans rights and the alarming number of bills targeting the LGBTQ community. “It’s around 500 bills they’re trying to pass,” Cher revealed. “I was with two trans girls recently—and, of course, my own child, Chaz, is trans. I told them, ‘We’ve got to stand together.’ I honestly don’t know what their ultimate plan is for trans individuals. I wouldn’t put anything past them.”

This isn’t the first time Cher has shared her thoughts on Trump. When he took office in 2016, she remarked, “I hate to even call him a president because all he does is watch TV.” Cher also predicted that the former president would have a meltdown if he lost reelection. “If Trump can’t be in the White House, he’s going to burn it down,” she asserted. “He’s the most vindictive person I’ve ever seen. I believe he’s fighting so hard because he knows he’ll face prosecution once he leaves the White House.”
