The Menendez brothers have become the newest focus of Ryan Murphy’s hit Netflix series Monster. In a surprising twist, Kim Kardashian has reportedly visited the infamous siblings in prison.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story debuted on Netflix on Thursday, September 19, delving into the notorious 1989 case where the brothers were convicted of the shocking murders of their parents.
In 1989, Erik and Lyle Menendez shocked the nation when they fatally shot their parents, José and Mary Louise Menéndez, in their Beverly Hills home. Netflix’s new series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, dives deep into the chilling events leading up to the murders and the high-profile court case that followed.
The brothers claimed years of alleged sexual, emotional, and physical abuse drove them to commit the crime. However, prosecutors argued that the killings were fueled by greed, with the intent of inheriting the family’s fortune.
Erik Menendez recently criticized the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, in a statement. “I believed we had moved beyond the lies and ruinous character portrayals of Lyle, creating a caricature rooted in horrible and blatant falsehoods spread by the show,” Erik expressed.
In Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Chloë Sevigny, Javier Bardem, and Cooper Koch bring the Menendez family to life on screen.
Erik Menendez recently shared his dismay over the portrayal of his brother, Lyle, in the series. “I can only believe these false depictions were intentional,” Erik said. “With a heavy heart, I must conclude that Ryan Murphy cannot be this naive or inaccurate about the facts of our lives, leading me to believe this was done with harmful intent.”
Kim Kardashian, who recently collaborated with Ryan Murphy on American Horror Story: Delicate, where she portrayed the character Siobhan, has now found herself connected to his latest project, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Her reported visit to the Menendez brothers in prison adds an unexpected layer of intrigue to her involvement with Murphy’s universe of controversial and high-profile stories.
Accompanied by her sister Khloe, their mother Kris Jenner, and film producer Scott Budnick, she was also joined by actor Cooper Koch, known for his role in Monsters.
He portrays Erik Menendez in Netflix’s latest biopic series, with fans hailing it as the “perfect casting.”
However, her visit to the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility on September 21, first reported by TMZ, was reportedly unrelated to the show. Instead, it was part of her ongoing efforts in prison reform.
Accompanied by her family and Koch, she reportedly gave a talk to a large group of inmates, which is said to have included Erik and Lyle Menendez, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to Deadline, one of the key topics discussed during Kim’s talk was Greenspace—an initiative spearheaded by Lyle and Erik Menendez. The program aims to transform prison yards into more beautiful, green spaces, promoting the rehabilitation of inmates through environmental improvements.
Earlier this year, Kim had a conversation with another Monsters actor, Chloë Sevigny, who portrays Kitty Menendez, for Variety‘s Actors on Actors series.
The Kardashian sister shared that she grew up “right down the street from the house where it all took place.”
“I remember hearing about that case. My dad even drove me by the house and shared the story with me, having been inside it himself. Since the boys are still alive, if they reached out to you, would you be open to connecting with them?” she asked.
“I think it’s a slippery slope, and the legal aspects can be really dangerous,” Sevigny responded. “I’ve worked on a lot of true crime projects, and honestly, it can be mentally exhausting to consider the responsibilities to the victims, as well as to the killers and their families.”
